Spark! Student Opportunities
Upcoming Roles
The Stateless Collective Nonprofit’s Innovation, Design, and Engineering Academy (IDEA) is thrilled to partner with BU Spark! to offer students like you an opportunity to give back to the Boston community. Help us empower the next generation of changemakers both in the classroom and beyond!
Program
Coordinator
As a member of Spark!'s community, we welcome your application to the IDEAcademy as a Program Coordinator for summer 2025. Each year, Spark! students lay the groundwork for the creative exploration and development of unique projects by IDEA participants. As a Coordinator, you will be responsible for guiding a cohort of students, fostering their knowledge and interest in a specific industry. By facilitating activities and providing professional insights, Coordinators are able to foster a community where social impact is at the center of innovation.
Student Mentorship
Unable to commit to a full position? Apply to join our Student Mentorship program! This role allows Spark! students to regularly meet with a group of high school innovators, guiding them through the creation of social impact projects from ideation to development, testing, presentation, and publication. This opportunity is ideal for Spark! students seeking to connect with the community and enjoy a flexible schedule. Mentors are also invited to join us for our Demo Day Symposium event at the end of the program.
UI/UX Developer
We are excited to invite Spark! students to apply for the remote UI/UX Developer position with The Stateless Collective. This project offers Spark! students the chance to add an impressive project to their portfolio while giving back to their community. The Developer will design and implement the IDEA Student Research Journal, tracking student work, curating publishable projects, and designing the online journal for peer review and publication. This role is perfect for Spark! students interested in research or UI/UX design.
Demo Day Judge
Spark! students with a keen eye for impactful project development are encouraged to apply to be a Demo Day Judge. This one-day commitment involves serving on a panel of judges to award prizes to student projects showcased at the Demo Day Symposium. Judges will also have the option to join us for a day of IDEA programming during the program to meet with student teams, gain insights into their work process, and offer advice. Additionally, this role provides excellent networking opportunities and the chance for students to present their own works to gain traction for their startups or receive community feedback at our event.
Workshop Leader
We invite Spark! students who are interested in showing off their knowledge to take on our Guest Workshop Leader opportunity. This role allows participants to guest lecture on a topic of their expertise, join a panel to share their stories and advice with upcoming students, or create an interactive workshop to test their skills in an area they are passionate about. Think of it as a personal TED Talk on your favorite subject. Previous guests have delivered lessons on a wide range of topics, including robotics, encryption, coding in VR, and resume building.
